Dropped Object Prevention Scheme (DROPS)

DROPS (Dropped Objects Prevention Scheme) is an international workgroup of oil companies, drilling contractors, service providers and equipment suppliers with the aim of reducing dropped objects.

The organization started out in the North Sea, but has grown to be an international initiative with chapters in North America and Asia. Forums are frequently held where best practices on dropped object prevention are shared for the benefit of the whole industry. Workgroups are frequently formed to research specific challenges and come up with recommendations. Best practice documents are shared without copy rights on the DROPS website.

Tools for working at height are the result of one such workgroup. Depending on which contractors you ask, tools account for between 10 to 20% of all dropped objects on offshore drilling rigs. No wonder that Stopdrop Tools are a key part of contractor’s initiatives on dropped object prevention.  Our tools for working at height kits are frequently called a drops kit. Stopdrop Tooling products fully comply with the best practice recommendations by DROPS.

Stopdrop Tooling is actively involved in DROPS by attending almost every single forum, frequently presenting, promoting DROPS at oil & gas shows and taking an active role in the setup of the DROPS Asia Chapter.
